Late Night: Mayor Bloomberg urges police strike over gun control

In the wake of the horrific massacre in Aurora, Colo., early Friday morning, New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg has been one of the few high-profile American politicians speaking out in favor of tighter gun restrictions.

Piers Morgan Tonight,” where he argued that police officers in particular should throw their support behind gun control. “I don’t understand why the police officers across this country don’t stand up collectively and say, ‘We’re going to go on strike. We’re not going to protect you. Unless you, the public, through your legislature, do what’s required to keep us safe,’” he said.

I’d suggest that his police security patrol be the first ones to go, except that he’s a very, very, rich guy and could hire private security guards to take their place. Which just proves that he’s just another privileged liberal who has no idea what goes on in real people’s lives.

Besides, if the police went on strike, who would protect the criminals from the wrath of the citizens?

The most amazing thing is that the voters have elected him not once. Not twice. (After a change to the two term limit). They have elected him three times.

Voters of New York City, you deserve what you get.

    *sigh* damn HTML.

I meant to ask if this image was an appropriate response to Bloomberg’s idiocy.

I personally think officers should do the opposite. They should go on strike until every citizen who qualifies, like non-felons, has the right to easily obtain a concealed carry permit and be allowed to carry a gun to protect themselves from those who choose to use any weapon, not just guns, illegally. An armed citizenry may actually lower crime, making the cops’ jobs easier.
