Busy, Busy, Busy

Life intrudes, but at least for now with mostly good stuff.

My Mother in Law turned 95 at the beginning of the month. Because we have a far flung family, there are multiple birthday celebrations going on all month long. I’ve dubbed it “Shirleypalooza” as it seems to be never ending. Mrs. EMS Artifact and I are paying for all of this as Mother in Law’s other daughter seems disinterested in traveling to see her mother. I guess that’s because she figures she’ll catch her next 95th birthday. /sarc

Daughter has big time life changes going on. Just graduated from a very challenging MSW program, with a GPA of 3.70. Two years of very hard work and 2 1/2 hours of listening to the graduation speakers alternate between “Blah Blah Blah” and “Yada, Yada, Yada”. I really didn’t mind sitting there as this is a huge accomplishment for her. In two weeks she’s moving to Texas to start her new life with a guy that appears to be the love of her life. He’s already down there, although he made the trip up here for the graduation. Nice kid, we get to meet his parents and siblings Friday. Yeah, it’s that serious.

Speaking of moving to Texas, sadly I’m not. But I am driving down with daughter and her cat “Froderick”.  Her stuff is mostly packed in a Pack Rats container and waiting to be picked up. We leave in early June and when we get there hopefully her stuff will be there too.

Oh and both of my “easy” retirement jobs want more from me. I guess I should take that as a statement that my administrative skills don’t suck! Also, after all these years I’m taking an Emergency Medical Technician Instructor/Coordinator course. That’s three weeks of on line fun with three days of in person fun about 80 miles from Casa de EMS Artifact. That will allow me to teach at the BLS level and help out one of my employers when she needs fill in instructors.

All of which is to say that I haven’t had time to blog for the past week.

I did get the Ergo Grip Delta Grip for T&E. Hopefully tomorrow I’ll get to the range and try it out. After I have a couple of other people try it out, I’ll put up a post or two about it. Along with some of the other stuff I got at the NRA Show and haven’t got to play with yet.

Hopefully I’ll get some real posts up next week.

After a long career as a field EMS provider, I'm now doing all that back office stuff I used to laugh at. Life is full of ironies, isn't it? I still live in the Northeast corner of the United States, although I hope to change that to another part of the country more in tune with my values and beliefs. I still write about EMS, but I'm adding more and more non EMS subject matter. Thanks for visiting.

  1. Congrats for Mother-in-Law and for daughter! Good for daughter for heading to Texas – good stuff happens there – but I’m sorry she’ll be far from you. Teleportation is really WAY overdue.

    • Mrs. EMS Artifact and I will be teleporting ourselves to the south as soon as we are able. I’m pretty much done with winter, Democrats, and stupid gun laws. Oh, and being charged “fees” for services for which I pay taxes already.
