Another Narrative Dies

Well, two narratives actually.

ISIS suspected of mustard attack against US and Iraqi troops

ISIS is suspected of firing a shell with mustard agent that landed at the Qayarrah air base in Iraq Tuesday where U.S. and Iraqi troops are operating, according to several US officials.

The shell was categorized by officials as either a rocket or artillery shell. After it landed on the base, just south of Mosul, U.S. troops tested it and received an initial reading for a chemical agent they believe is mustard.

RIP “Iraq had no WMD” narrative. The Democrats and their running dog lackeys in the media used that as a cudgel to beat President G.W. Bush over the head for “lying us into the Iraq war.” It was always bullshit as plenty of WMD, but no nuclear material, was found during the clean up after the initial phase of the war. ISIS got that stuff somewhere, and it wasn’t Walmart.

Narrative #2 to die was President Hussein’s statement a couple of years ago that ISIS was the “Junior Varsity” of terrorist organizations. Initiating the first chemical attack on US Troops since World War 1 means that the JV is all grown up. This is the first attack, but it likely won’t be the only attack.

No U.S. troops were hurt or have displayed symptoms of exposure to mustard agent.

This time.

One official said the agent had “low purity” and was “poorly weaponized.” A second official called it “ineffective.”

I wonder if these are the same officials who assured us after the bombings in New York City and New Jersey Saturday and Sunday that there were “no connections” to international terrorism?

Things just get worse every day.

After a long career as a field EMS provider, I'm now doing all that back office stuff I used to laugh at. Life is full of ironies, isn't it? I still live in the Northeast corner of the United States, although I hope to change that to another part of the country more in tune with my values and beliefs. I still write about EMS, but I'm adding more and more non EMS subject matter. Thanks for visiting.
